Enjoy Fun in the Sun in Downtown Bastrop

Downtown Bastrop is the perfect destination on a summer day – any day of the week! The beautiful Colorado river rolls lazily through Downtown, creating a stretch of summer fun opportunities for kids and adults alike.

If staying cool is at the top of your list, go for a float on the Colorado River, with Bastrop River Company . They have you covered when it comes to tubes, kayaks, coolers and will even pick you up and bring you back downtown afterward.

The kids will love the sandy beach area along the Colorado in Fisherman’s Park . Just down from the playground, across from the boat launch is a sunny spot perfect for exploration, splashing and going for a swim. Fisherman’s Park also hosts the Splash Pad, open daily from 10 am until 8 pm, with plenty of parking, shaded sitting areas, picnic tables and fun for kids of all ages.

The Museum and Visitor Center of Bastrop County is a trip down memory lane, with points of interest for all ages. Take an interactive tour through Bastrop’s past, and see if you can crack the museum’s scavenger hunt.

Main Street offers numerous opportunities to relax, cool off and enjoy something refreshing. Grab a cupcake or ice cream cone at Simply Sweet , or iced coffee or horchata at Anita’s Café . Tough Cookie Bakery offers from-scratch seasonal treats, including Texas peach pie or scones, and local lavender lemonade and iced local espresso drinks. For some grown-up refreshment, try the Ginger Peach Mule at Copper Shot Distillery, or the Garden Hose cocktail at Neighbor’s Kitchen and Yard, featuring cucumber vodka, watermelon, mint and fresh sweet and sour.

As the sun begins to set, the music along Main Street and The Crossing begins to crank up. You’ll find live music most nights in Downtown Bastrop, and plenty of shady spots on our numerous patio, deck and sidewalk eateries. The fans will be humming, and the sweet tea, cold beer and cocktails will be flowing to keep you cool and comfortable.

What better way to spend a long, lazy summer day?
